Jessica Warrick was born on the mean streets of Spokane, WA but didn’t remember any of it because she was a negligent baby. After living here and there (including a stint in Florida) she has returned to the west coast to make Portland her home.
Backing up… she began an art career by writing and drawing comic strips for her college newspapers, which earned her two Young Journalism awards. This boosted her self-esteem, leading to her next logical career choice: a BA in Psychology, then children’s books.
Recent picture books she has illustrated include the How to be an Earthling series, and Hammer and Nails, receiver of a starred Kirkus review. Some of her clients have included Chronicle, Heinemann, Flashlight Press, Kane Press and Dell.
